Packaging!

I thought I would show you the packaging I've put together for my items on Etsy. All very basic and printed by myself but I think it looks very effective!

Big pile of bag toppers waiting to be attached.

All folded.

All done and neatly arranged ready for their potential buyers!

I also intend to wrap the items in some lovely tissue paper I bought the other day and include a moo mini card with my details on (which are on the way soon and will show you when they arrive!).

Newly added to Etsy!

Some new bits I've just added to my Etsy!

Hand covered buttons come in a set of 3. I have fawns, butterflies, woodland, ladybugs, russian dolls and cotten reels.

Also, packs of 25 or 50 6x6 Patterned Paper. This is a de-stash as there is no way I am going to use them. One of those things I bought when I was heavily into Scrapbooking for a while.

Phew!

I'm well on my way to opening my online store. I'm just getting everything packaged up at the moment, but I thought I'd share a few more sneak previews (even though I am pretty sure no one is reading my blog! lol). I'm having a blast though regardless of how well it all goes. I hope it'll be good experience for when I finally pluck up the courage and go ahead with my dream of having my own shop one day.

Crocheted flowers, these will come in sets of 10. Great for embellishing all sorts of crafty things.

Handmade buttons. Using lots of my lovely fabrics for these. The fawn one's are my favs I think! Will come in a set of 3.

Crocheted hair bows! Definitely my favourite product, 8 different colours so far!

I made these last night. Cute little rainbow keychains.

Heart magnets. Will come in a set of 3. I've got 8 different sets so far.

I've also got the mushroom sets, a couple of owls, some 6x6 paper sets (this is a destash) and lots of other ideas bubbling around in my head. I hope to have everything up for sale within the next week. :D Can't wait!

Latest crafty going's on!

Well I've been busy sewing and crocheting away. I've been debating what to do, and where to sell my goodies as I think I've got quite a bit of stock together now. I've also been weighing up some big changes in my life. But I won't bore you with that. Take a look at some of the things I've been making (this isn't everything, just a very small selection). I'm hoping to get these up for sale soon.

You may remember the mushroom magnets? Well now I have them in 5 different colour sets! I've had the pieces cut out for ages now and I've only just gotten around to stitching them up!

Also magnets. These were fun to make. Each set is different and I used about 8 different colours of felt for the hearts.

Crochet hair bows! There is a clip attached at the back. These are super cute and I have 8 different colours so far!

Ticket Wallet Tutorial

So in November I shall be going to several concerts and I thought I really need to get the show tickets organised as well as the train tickets. Hence the idea of a ticket wallet was born! It was very simple to make, only took a couple of hours. It would work pretty well for any kind of tickets, you would just need to adjust the sizes a little.

But if you want to make one like mine, keep reading for the tutorial. :) Bare in mind I've never written one of these before so if I don't make any sense feel free to ask questions in the comments.

1. First of all, gather the materials you'll need: 4x Different Coloured Felt, Different Coloured Embroidery Thread, Sharp Needle, Scissors, Selection of Buttons, Pins, Ruler, Pencil/Pen.

2. Okay, so the first thing you need to do is figure out what colour you want the outside and inside to be. I chose a dark blue for the outside and light blue for the inside. From these, cut 2 pieces 12cm x 30cm.

3. Fold both in half. With the piece of felt you want as the front, design your cover. I just did a bit of (very) basic embroidery, but you could make this as elaborate as you like. :)

4. Okay so put the front piece to one side and now pick up the "inside" piece (ie the light blue for me). Now on one side I wanted to have my train tickets and the other I used for my concert tickets. Obviously the sizes mentioned a very specific to the sizes of my tickets, but it wouldn't take much to adjust them.

5. So I used 2 different colour pieces of felt. I used the orange for the concert tickets, cutting 2 pieces 11cm x 2.5cm. For the train ticket slot I cut a piece of yellow felt 13.5cm x 7.5cm and rounded the bottom corners.

6. Pin the yellow and orange in place, baring in mind where the fold is!

7. So for the orange pieces I did some fastening stitches at the top before sewing in the buttons just to give it a bit of extra strength. Then for the yellow I used a running stitch, you'll notice I put a split in the middle of the yellow as I wanted to keep some train tickets separate so you don't need to do this step.

8. If you want your wallet to close securely, read on. Cut a piece of felt (I used light blue) 6cm x 3cm and round the corners on one end. Using a small dab of fabric glue, position on the back side of the front cover as demonstrated in the picture. Add another dab of glue on top (nowhere else!) and position the inside piece (the light blue) on top. Wait to dry. Cut a button hole in the new flap and on the front of the wallet sew in a coordinating button.

9. Okay, so being careful as you're now attached via glue, pin the rest of the wallet together to make it easier to sew.

10. And start sewing around the edge. I used blanket stitch all the way around, doing a bit of running stitch of the flap to further strengthen it. Add your tickets and you're ready to go!!

Please let me know if you use this tutorial, or if it made no sense whatsoever! I'd love to see what others make with it!

Going Well

My brain storming session from the other day is turning into a huge inspiration overload. Very exciting! I've crocheted a few bits and pieces already, I want to get a good amount of stock ready before I open a shop though. Having lots of fun though! I'll give a sneaky peak soon!

Meantime, here's a couple of swatch projects I finished up yesterday for my bedroom wall. I was just gonna have them as blank material, but I decided to do a bit of embroidery on them.

Sunday 6 September 2009

Hey hey hey!

Lack of updates = not too much crafting, lack of updates also = planning.

A few months ago, I was really interested in setting up my own Folksy/Etsy shop - you may remember the owls? And the mushroom magnets? Well yes, anyway life got in the way and I had to abandon the idea for a while.

You see, I've always wanted my very own shop. A craft supplies/tea and cakes/homemade crafty things type shop. It is my dream and I hope one day, when I can gather some money together it will become a reality.

Anyway, so yesterday I had a rather giant brain wave of ideas for products floating around in my head, so I'm now working on these to open my own Folksy. It probably will take a while to get some things together (because I also have another million projects on the go as well as a very busy couple of months ahead). But either way, I'm excited!

So if you don't hear from me for a bit, it is because I am crafting away on SEKRIT PROJECTS.
